Meet Dr. Ngembus

a Dr. Ngonack Joan Ngembus, M.D.

Internal Medicine Physician | Multilingual Global Healer | Advocate for Preventive Care

Dr. Ngonack Joan Ngembus is a passionate and highly skilled internal medicine physician currently completing her residency at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York. With over a decade of experience in clinical care across Germany, Cameroon, and the United States, Dr. Ngembus brings a global lens to medicine — combining European precision, American evidence-based practice, and African empathy

Trained initially in Germany at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (LMU), she completed both her medical education and a rigorous surgical residency before transitioning to the U.S. medical system. Her diverse background spans acute care, internal medicine, dermatology, surgery, and HIV care — a multidisciplinary foundation that enables her to care for patients with depth and humanity.

Dr. Ngembus is deeply committed to patient-centered medicine, with a strong focus on health education, preventive care, and chronic disease management. Fluent in English, German, French, and Pidgin English, she is a culturally competent physician who connects with patients from all walks of life — particularly those from medically underserved communities

Her research has been published in leading journals including the Journal of the American College of Cardiology and Cureus, with clinical interests in cardiology, HIV medicine, and digital health innovation. She is also the co-founder of The Calipers Club at SUNY Upstate, a resident-led initiative to improve EKG interpretation and cardiovascular outcomes

Beyond the clinic, Dr. Ngembus is a dedicated volunteer, award-winning scholar, and enthusiastic choir singer. She believes medicine is both a science and a calling — and she lives that truth every day.
